Thanks! Definitely no complaints about the natural beauty... and the fishing is pretty dang good, too!

Thanks, I am learning! Up to recently I have only used a chainsaw to fell trees and an axe to split wood. Now, I am learning to use hand tools. The history and use of the tools is really fascinating... I hope to build a shave horse and spring pole lathe in the spring!

  • Greetings from the Appalachian Mountains of NC!

    Hey y'all,
I just got back into whittling and woodcarving last August. My grandfather was an amazing woodworker - everything from toys to relief carving to furniture. etc. I whittled a lot when I was a kid, but forgot how much I enjoyed it for 20 years or so. Thank God, I inherited a few of his chisels, gouges, planes and a draw knife! I live deep in the woods, so I am enjoying the old ways of felling trees and turning them into useful things. The forums look GREAT, and I am looking forward to getting involved. SO many names I see here are on the books on my shelf! I make my living writing, podcasting, etc. about medicinal herbs and gardening - if anyone has any questions about such things, feel free to get in touch. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
Working...
