      Tom, I do carve a lot of them. I carve mainly birds and beasts and a good bit of the work on these is power. I save a lot of the knife/gouge/rasp work for when I know I will be sitting and waiting somewhere. Otherwise, I carve comfort birds. Here is my last "hatching". These all happen to be basswood scraps. I also carve quite a lot of them in cedar (very popular), and use other chunks of wood I find or is given to me.

          The black capped chickadee is my favourite songbird. They are adorably cute and playful.
          It was a very resourceful save.
