  • Belted Kingfisher (female)

    Just finished this commission piece, glad it is done. The customer asked for a life sized female belted kingfisher to be looking downwards with its head turned to the right a bit. He supplied the driftwood branch that he intends to mount to the wall near the ceiling so when his friends arrive it looks as the the kingfisher is looking at them.

    Hi Dwight, you are not going to say that this is the Ugly Bird you were working on are you ?? If you were you sure made it to be a Beauty . Your Customer should be very Pleased . Carving is Great and Painting is Excellent. Cute little Bugger. Merle

          It's so good the pictures look like the front cover of a step by step illustration by a famous carver.
          I really appreciate how subtle yet precise you painted the patterned markings.
          YOU certainly have a recognizable style.

            Beautiful job Dwight; .... I'm a bit of an a amature birdwatcher ( when I'm not carving) and I'd say you done a perfect job on that kingfisher, both carving and painting
