Very nicely done and a good pose and setting. I like birds - this one gets a like!

What kind of epoxy do you use and do you just blob it on? .

2 part epoxy wood... the stuff comes in a tube, cut a piece off and knead it together.

Wow!... very life like, both carving and painting. The light colour indicates to me that it is a piping plover which is on the endangered spices list here on the east coast of canada. We are fortunate to have several pairs on the local beaches and they seem to be making a comeback.
        thanks for sharing

That's beautiful work Dwight. Realistic in every way. Superb job in painting this piece as well as the carving. More patience than I could ever wish to have.

Is it that obvious... thought I did a good job at disguising the real feathers. Sorry to disappoint you Merle, but no Taxidermist here. Thanks for the kind comment.

Good question Merle... I don't know. Actually they are referring to the plumage.(time of year) LOL The plover is actually a piping plover.

Joulter Cays are small uninhabited islands to the north of Andros Island in the Bahamas. Oolitic sand dominates the intertidal zone around the small islands that are covered with vegetation.

The Joulter Cays were designated as an Important Bird Area for the endangered piping plover and short-billed dowitcher in 2012.
