Any dog carvers here?

I only carve wood...does dogwood count? (Sorry!)

I haven't carved dogs, but I have to carve one of my miniature Schnauzer...I just know I won't really capture his essence, though, so I'm reluctant to give it a go.

I carved a lab, trying to make it look something like my daughters lab. Also my first attempt at finishing with watered acrylics via airbrush.

My first relief carving was my girlfriend's dachschund. Mahogany, 8" x 10" - that was 72 years ago.

Then I remembered a more recent dog in relief: This sleeping miniature long-hair doxy was included in a scene called "Grandpa's Watch" cause the tall case clock incorporated an inherited pocket watch.

Bloodhound
Dachshund (full grown and a pup)
Dalmation pup
Golden Doodle pup
Yorkie pup (one sitting, one standing)
Beagles

I have included front, side, back photos of most of them here in the forums. If you print out the photos, you can re-size them and use them as patterns.

Toycarver, Yes I did give it to her. The carving is of her silver lab. Before I started carving, I did a scroll saw puzzle of her chocolate lab. She has both displayed in her home.
