I'm surprised you never saw one in MD. These are not common like robins but there not scarce either.

Maybe I saw one and didn't know what it was. My Bird knowledge is limited. What ever their names are Mitch I still enjoy seeing the Birds you do. Merle

Great job on the Grosbeak Mitch. I have them at my feeder and look forward to their spring arrival. If you don't mind, where did you get your pattern? I would like to carve one myself?

Mitch, that's a great job on the Grosbeak. We have a family of them raised nearby and have been at our feeder for a week.

Here is the pattern I used the length bill to tail is is 8in .

". . . carved this week." I could not get that done in a month.
The pose seems to be the moment before flight. I like that.
The shape is exactly the same as the ones we get here but yellow, black & white
with a pale green beak.
