Can anyone tell where I can find some images and/or description of the inside of the common loon's mouth? I've checked the search function here and google but haven't found anything helpful. Thanks.

    Re: Loon mouth

The Great Northern Loon (Gavia immer).
The inside of the beak is as black as the outside.
When they call, the tongue sticks out in the middle, black with a little muddy yellowish base.
50+ years ago, the Cree indians taught me how to call them in. Quite an experience.
