I enjoy carving heads and faces so sometimes I just carve one for something to do and have no plans for it. So after a while I tend to have a "surplus" of heads and no bodies to match them up with; I've done the bust and the bottle stopper thing in the past, but this time thought I'd like to try something a bit different so I gave this fellow a Toronto Blue Jays hat and mounted him on a "Louisville Slugger" bat. It also gave me an excuse to dust off the lathe tools and do a bit of turning which I haven't done in ages. The head and the bat are basswood and the base is white pine. Total height is 10-1/2" tall. I've yet to apply the final finish coat, but most likely will use Tried and True from Lee Valley.
