  • Emmett Kelly bottle stopper

This is an Emmett Kelly bottle stopper. The carving is 2 inches tall, not counting the cork, carved from basswood and painted with acrylics.

Nice job. Good details. I'm surprised that you could get that much detail in a 2 inch sculpture.

Great carving Claude, the bottle must be empty from the frown on his face, just kidding. What type of cork is it that you are using?

Good likeness Claude; ....I'll admit I had to Google "Emmett Kelly " as I had no idea who he was. I remember seeing him on TV when I was a kid but didn't know his real name.....to me he was "Weary Willie".

Great stopper Claude! I always lover Emmit Kelly. I saw him in person once when I was young.

Nice Claude! The carving serves as a good reference for carving the head and face. Thanks for sharing!

                        Thanks for kind comments, all!

JPB: The last time I needed some corks, Woodcraft was out of them, so I got these instead: https://www.woodcraft.com/products/w...ppers-10-piece The silicone completely covers the dowel, so they would seal a bottle that was laying on it's side (in theory - I haven't tried it...).
