  • Mare named Bob

We had an old mare named Bob.
We shelled the corn and fed her the cob
Her back was crooked and her feet were flat
But on them cobs ole Bob got fat.
My grampa sang me this song
Bob is from a Bishop rough out from Steve Brown rough outs.

Good job Herb!.... .... your grand paw was as good with words as you are with wood. I like both the poem and the carving.

Speaking of cobs, My Dad used to tell of a old cow they had on the farm. She would suck in a field corn cob, move it about in the jaw and spit out the cob. The others just ate cob and all. Dad said Grandmother had told him the Cow had earned the right after years of milk. She was the leader of the pack as well. Love that horse - expected to see a rock under his hoofs. Martin
