    Just finished this old guy... one of Chris Hammacks rough outs.

    I think I've eaten breakfast near that guy. Place along a highway with pickups out front. I stop for Biscuit and gravy and was the only one there in a suit! At least I knew what to eat and they all tipped their hat or waved as I left. Guess I made their day as well. 200 mile road trip to get there before 8 am. When I was younger

                    Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I found the wood to be punky, if that is the right term. Even with a sharp knife it tended to tear in a lot of places rather than cut. Trying to sand the areas was even a choir so I just did the best I could to get it smooth and then painted.

                        wonder why the wood was punky as you say. Wonder if it was not Northern basswood.
