As a design suggestion, I would suggest a piling or group of pilings as the base. Or, a lobster or crab pot. Do you have another 2 hours to kill?

Spent the afternoon carving Don Swartz's 2 hour peligan, although I must admit it took me more than 2 hours to complete it was a fun project and would highly recommend it .
