This is from a Harold Enlow rough out I got back in September. I like doing something a little different from my usual cowboy/hillbilly/Santa and it was fun painting her up, like she was going to town. That used to be a big occasion for folks that lived out in the country! I remember roaming the aisles of the five-and-dime store, calculating what all I could buy with the quarter or whatever money I had. Thanks for looking!

Your carving is just great. Her name is appropriate. Well done all round.
I also liked your story. When I was a kid, my parents took me and my brother to visit our grandparents each summer. When in Burk's Falls (rural Ontario, where they lived), it was exactly as you described. Drew and I would go to the local general store and spent our bounty. Thanks for bringing back the memories. And thanks for Miz Lurley.
Where was this rural area you speak so fondly of?Last edited by Rodster; 10-31-2018, 01:44 PM.Rodster
