  • Uncle Eli catches da big one...

Uncle Eli sure knows how to catch the big ones ( and they continue to grow larger every time he tells the yarn about how he caught 'em... ). Now if aunt Sophie can find a frying pan big enough to cook this one they'll have quite the feed of fresh cod.....
I had just barely started this fellow before I had to spend an unscheduled few days in the hospital, so I'm just getting around to finishing him up now. Eli stands 9" high and is carved from basswood, painted with washes of acrylic and finished with a coat of Tried & True. The base is a piece of 1- 1/8" white pine stair tread also finished with a coat of Tried & True.
    Hope you like him
    Wayne

Glad you are doing well Wayne, nice job on the carving, and paint. That reminds me, I need to run down ti Ivars for some fish and chips.
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

Looks like a "flat head" cat if not, it will be dragging it.

Very nice carving and paint job on the piece...the fish lost a hard fight. Well done!

Really great little carving Wayne. I started to chuckle the moment I laid eyes on him. Two thumbs up. Bye the way, hope all is well now with your health. Take care.

Glad you're out of the hospital and back at the carving bench, Wayne. That fish must weigh at least 75 pounds!!! Excellent work as always!

Great carving Soggy! I've got an old shipmate that lives on Cape Cod who sent me a photo of himself in foul weather gear just like that.
