  • Good Fishing

    Hi Everyone
I had a very good week in the carving shop. a customer asked me to make some fishermen carvings as prizes for a regatta of National One Design sailboats, in all a total of 12 carvings, some I
already had in stock(ornaments) ,one 4 inch fisherman, the rest I had to carve. Thought I was going to have to work overtime LOL
Hope you like them, they range in height from 3 to 7 inches tall carved from local poplar and basswood, acrylic paints and sealed with gloss poly varnish

Nice carvings and suspect they are a variation of the 5-minute wizard? I've done a few based on the wizard and lots of fun. Yours are more detailed though and nice carvings. Good luck with them, Scotia.

                Hi Woodburner
Some of the small carvings are easily carve in five minutes but its that dammed painting that takes the time LOL

Yep, if you like carving the painting is a necessary evil. I usually just carve away and then do the painting when many are ready. Your painting is fine though, Scotia and well done. I really like the additions you did like the fish and anchor...great.

My 5-minute carvings take a lot longer than that but after a while, I guess you can do them blindfolded. Well done and getting a few bucks in the wallet is even a nicer addition.

Nice fisherman, Bruce! I'm sure they will be popular prizes. You sure must go through a lot of yellow paint!
