          Nice. I never knew what these were until now. I’ve seen these before, but always thought they must be from a kids cartoon or something. Is the black in the grooves burn marks?

            yes, I use my burner to highlight all my carvings before painting.it serves two purposes; first it gives the appearance of depth and shadows and secondly (most important in my opinion) it prevents my paint from bleeding into adjacent areas .
