  • Finally found his calling

This fellow was started a few years ago with a different purpose, but I couldn't get excited about it, so he sat on the shelf for some time. Finally decided his first loves on earth were horses and dogs. Dog is from a roughout I bought several years ago, but can't remember who from.

Nicley carved and painted. I like your presentation, it tells a story.

It may have taken you a while to get this piece finished, but the end result is beautiful, both carving and painting.......Well done!

I really like the effect you've gotten in the shirt and jeans, both the carving and painting.

Great looking scene. The dog reminds me of some of Tom Wolfe's hounds...

A great scene with beautifully carved and painted work. I love the attention to detail in the piece. It just makes it something special.

Very nice. The wrinkles in the shirt are great as well. Are the hands and head separate pieces than the body?

Claude, I’ll bet that’s where I got the dog roughout, at a get together in Lebanon, TN a few years ago. Didn’t quite know what to do with it, so I figured he would add some interest to this piece.
