  • Roger Stegall class November 13th and 14th

    Folks,
I had the distinct pleasure of taking a class from Roger this past weekend, the 13th and 14th in Branson at Pete Engler's shop.

It was extremely enjoyable, and Roger is an awesome instructor! Got to meet Kathy his wife, and they both are fine people, very hospitable, kind, and just great!

The venue was great, and Laura at Engler's was a great hostess! I even got to meet Harley Schmitgen of CCA fame...he popped in to look at our class' progress.

The class was small...4 carvers both days.

I expanded my horizons, and branched out into carving cowboys!

I learned some great techniques from Roger on eyes, hands, ears and even making whiskers!

I carved 'Stache...he is on Roger's YouTube channel...at any rate, I was very happy with my carving.

I still have a laundry list of things to complete, but the product I went home with is below.

I would highly recommend taking a class from Roger if you ever get the chance!

Thanks for the carving course news. I like the way you described it, how nice people were and the folksiness of small town life in the west. I wish I were there, but alas, I'm way up here in Canada waiting for summer.

I like your carvings and your postings. I was telling my friend about you. I believe you are a banker and live in the town where Bob Dole grew up. I can't remember the name.

My friend loves the west, carves only cowpokes and was very interested to see a picture of your latest carving.

Good to hear from you, Rodster! Yep, Bob Dole and I share the same home town of Russell, Kansas!

My wife and I just love Branson, MO...it is one of the most patriotic towns I have ever visited. Before most of the shows there, they play the national anthem, and make it a point to thank our veterans at some point during each show.

This was only the second class I have participated in, as I am mostly self taught. The biggest thing this class gave me was the confidence to do things I didn't know I could do, and now know I can!

I just hope my paint job does this guy justice!!!
