I carved this guy a couple of months ago and thought he looked kinda creepy. .....so I decided to practice making glasses on him. I used 19 ga wire soldered together, glued on a piece of card stock to the back of the frames, trimmed it and painted all of it black, then I filled in the front of the lenses with clear gorilla glue. They are a little rough but I found out the clear gorilla glue makes nice reflective lenses. I haven't soldered anything in probably 18 years. Glad it worked out. I think it looks a lot better than the wire glasses that are just twisted around in one piece. Lynn Doughty has a great tutorial on YouTube on making them, except he used epoxy for the lenses and painted on a nice reflection of a beach on the card stock. Thanks for looking.

Nice way to “save” your carving. He made me smile… so no longer creepy. But I can identify with the creep factor… I have to hide those in the back of the shelf. My Website: www.carvingjunkies.com

Hi Eddy, I don't know what Triple Thick is. I didn't use super glue. I used the regular clear gorilla glue to make the lenses. Thanks.
As for the Triple Thick, I love it. Since I very rarely carve eyes and paint them on instead, the Triple Thick as a finish coating over the eye really makes the eyes pop!

Thanks Eddy, I added it to my Amazon cart. I see that people paint it on rocks as well to bring out the coloring and design. I love collecting cool rocks and petrified wood with my kids.
I use titebond 3 to glue wood, but wanted to try this since it is clear and says it does plastic and metal too.Attached Files
