Another Mike Shipley Country Folk

Finished another Mike Shipley pattern. The other man in the photos is also a Shipley pattern, and was my very first caricature. I think it’s safe to say I have improved at least a little lol. Also made those hillbillies some trees so they would feel more at home. And finally, uploaded a late Santa that I finally decided to paint. Thanks for looking!

Nice!... it is very satisfying to see ones self improve with each carving. I suggest you keep the first couple, no matter how much someone thinks you should give it to them. If you stick with this hobby it will be nice to look back at your first works and compare them to what you are doing in the years to come. I have been carving since 2008, and have kept at least one Christmas ornament each year since then. It is amazing to be able to compare where I started and where I am now.

Great job! I took my very first carving class from Mike! Love his patterns and the simplicity of his carvings. His mantra is, 'Give your carvings enough detail to make it interesting, but keep it simple enough to make it fun!
