Mini Rodeo Clown

Hey All,

This is a little guy that I finished up this week. He started out as a cut out from Myron Compton's mini cowboy pattern. Myron thanks for the pattern. As I startred the carving I kept thinking about hobo's, never having carved one I thought that I might, but as I got started I wanted to try to do something else that I had never done, a clown. So I ended up following the cowboy pattern to a point, and altered it to fit my version of a rodeo clown. He stands a little over 5" tall including base and is about 5" wide and 3.5" deep. Painted in acrylic wash and finished with satin poly. Hope that you enjoy him. As always any and all comments are welcome.

Good job of carving on this clown, he looks ready to fight a bull. I'll send my steer over , and I got a sawbuck on the steer (his horns are long enought to reach the bottom of that barrel, so your boy ain't got a chance). Great job!

This ole boy don't stand a chance with your bull. But you just gave me an idea for another carving down the road. In fact you might even consider doing it. Your bull needs a wrangler with his pants ripped and hanging from those horns.lol

Great job on the cowboy clown. Love that face. Clean cuts and nice painting. When I look at it, I am feeling like there should be one more element in the scene, not sure what it would be though.

Thanks for viewing. I understand what you are saying. Here is what I'm thinking. Another clown head popping up out of the barrel, a safety wall in the background with advertising, or just a hat laying in the dirt. I am trying to make the scenes simple and not overly involved but yet somehow still tell a story. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Very nice carving, I especially like the facial expression you captured. Also think your idea about the wrangler with the pants dangling from a steer's horns is pretty good.
