  • Stage Coachman

Well, it has been awhile since I have posted anything so I thought I would share a couple that I finshed last weekend. This is a roughout from Pete Ortel. This was fun to carve and I was up to the challenge concerning the details in the belt. I tried several shades of the same colors to get the carving to look more, true to a cowboy who is dirty or sweaty by darkening in certain areas. I still have a way to go. Hope you like him. Comments both good and critical are welcomed. Thanks!

Great job! Love to pose and paint work. He's a keeper.

Comment: It appears you did a nice job shadowing on the clothing but there doesn't appear to be any on the skin areas (especially the large hands).

You did a good job detailing the belt. I have tried a cartridge belt before, and it was an utter disaster. You nailed it. Good carving.

Thanks Slow, Dan, Claude and Herb! Thanks for looking Ken, I did have some shading on the hands maybe not enough, kinda hard to see I guess.
