      Re: "Rattlesnake Beans"

I used to help snapping beans also when I was a kid, although we had Blue Lake Pole Beans. Picking those beans for a farmer down the road gave us some extra spending money in the summer. Well done on the carving, Mike, and the painting is superb!

Excellent carving Mike! Just doesn't get any better than this. Love the dress! Love the whole concept. This just really works. Can't say enough about her. Thanks for posting her. Did someone say you were going to make a rough out of this one. Let us know, I'm sure you would have a lot of takers. Lar

An amazing carving! I agree with all of the above. The dress is incredible and reminds me of my grandmother. I spent my earliest years living on my grandparent's farm and I also spent many long hours snapping beans with both my mother and grandmother.

Mike that is an absolutely wonderful carving , If you take everything everybody said times two it still wouldn't be enough. The feedsack dress with the little flowers is spectacular. This is by far my favorite carving I have seen on this site. It brings back many wonderful memories.
            thank you for posting

Excellent work, Mike! And the paint job on her dress is a work of art in itself! You should really be proud of the job you did on this one!

Mike, would give you a carver's choice
award here if I had one to give. Really nice. I think i have material similar to what you painted in my sewing room and Id love to make a dress like that out of it. Also still enjoy growing, snappinf,g and eating all those wonderful beans like October beans, white crowders. Purple hulls, pintos. Great job on your carving and it sure touches home here for me.

                        Re: "Rattlesnake Beans"

Probably my most favorite carving I've seen on here. I can hear the jars popping in the kitchen. Great job capturing the "feel" of it if that makes sense. Love it

Mike that turned out great from clay to ruff out and then you hit it out of the park with finished carving and the painting. Your painting is really great on this one.
