Bark Girl Face

This Girl face is from cottonwood bark. She is 4" wide and 8" tall (with hair) on a piece that's 5" wide, 12" long and 3" thick. It's from the article in the last WCI.
I ran into some bad wood about an inch down, you can see it in the neck. I fixed it as best I could.

Lots of fine detail for CW, maybe if you're looking at the wood you would notice the bad wood, but to my eye the pictures are fine

Thanks Merle, Joe & Tom. That bark can be frustrating sometimes. I had nice eye mounds and as soon as I carved into them they shattered.

Very, very nice! I am a newbie to cottonwood bark carving, and can attest to how hard it is to get good detail definition. Being able to do this in basswood is one thing, but is a whole 'nuther deal in bark! Way to go!
