  • I’m new to the carving hobby however here is an example from Australia

Hi everyone I’m new to not only this forum but also to the world of carving and I’m having a great time. Everything I have been doing is all from wood found on the forest floor or reclaimed. This is my second tree spirit I’m still struggling with eyes so any tips be appreciated. I’m from Western Australia so all the wood I get to carve is really hard like jarrah and sheoak but colours and grain are really nice in my option and worth the hours and hours of sanding. The owl is carve in sheoak which I saved from a farmers wood pile.

Welcome again, Gregg. I think the wood spirit is very good. I already commented on the owl, but both are excellent carvings.
