  • Hienecke Basswood

Had anyone made an order from Heinecke in the last 2 days? My email order is getting bounced back and want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong, this time. I'm using "[email protected],"

    Thanks, Bill

Thanks, Joe. I've always used emails over the years and everything was fine sailing. Good suggestion and I'll call.

I always call as I can then talk through what I am wanting to do and the wood blocks I need for it.

I've made many orders via email for years and never had a problem. I can't hear well on the phone, so I'll have my wife call today. Of course, I don't want two orders.

          Thanks, Paul......

I've always been surprised that they haven't updated their website to be able to order directly from the site. I don't like the phone and I don't want to go back and forth with e-mails, so I've never ordered from them.

It would be nice to have a shopping cart and online ordering...but they have done it this way for a long while. Hi quality and I like them.

Curious...where do you buy your basswood ?

Northern Wildwood or Itasca Wood Products, I've never been disappointed with their wood. Heinecke's may be better but I've not used theirs so I can't compare.

Another think you all may consider is to see if they are coming to a carving show near you. They come to the Topeka and Wichita Kansas shows. We call them before the shows, and they bring our wood to the show. Someone from our club is usually at the shows and they bring the wood back...saves shipping!

remember you are emailing a person not a company and if they are at a show or vacation the email might be set to reject while gone so no one is hanging. They actually cut some wood for me as well.

I've dealt with them for many years and this is the first time I've encountered a "full mailbox." I'd think they would put the email on a responder with a message. Regardless, they conduct their business as they see fit and I just have to work around their operation.

My concern was maybe something has happened and will find out when we call.

Bill, I understand your reticence with the telephone. Even with my hearing aids, I have a problem with and dread talking on the phone. I seldom initiate a call. Even when I do ~ I often end up saying, "I am hearing impaired and am handing the phone to my wife. She will be our "go between". My real nemesis is restaurants. Noise, young folks who just seem to refuse to speak louder ~ Diana does my ordering for me.

Same thing here Paul. My hearing loss is the higher frequencies, so I can hardly understand female voices...even with hearing aids. I haven't found a good fix for the problem and with the hearing aids cranked up, ambient noises pound through my head.

Toss in someone without good pronunciation, or an accent, and it is impossible.

So, my wife is also the "go-between." However if it is a technical call or a subject she doesn't understand, then things get difficult.

                            Such is life.

Paul and Bill, can I relate! I couldn't hear squat in restaurants, so I got hearing aids that supposedly could "discriminate" and allow me to hear conversations while more or less suppressing background noise. What a crock that is! Still can't hear in restaurants, seems like everyone mumbles...and as you know, those hearing aids are obscenely expensive! They sit unused in boxes.
