    If you need a piece specifically that size it would call for a glue up for me. Lumberyard basswood may not be northern grown, carveable quality.

    Neither Heinecke or Loess Hills show available basswood with these dimensions. It would need to be custom milled and priced accordingly.

    I recommend that you consider some alternate wood such as poplar. On some of the reliefs that I do with large areas of white wood, I have switched to poplar while continuing to use basswood for parts that require intricate details. Poplar will work fine for medium detail. Do you plan to actually carve the eight feet?

    Board ft cost for 8/4 basswood seems to be $3 to $4. Lumber prices changing fast every where. Shipping will be about as much as the wood. Or was for me. Orders 6 boards from Heineken and shipping was almost as much as the lumber.
