Can anyone tell me where I can buy some sticks suitable for my cane toppers? I want to carve the sticks to go with the topper. I have done this before and I ‘think’ I used Aspen.

Hi toycarver. I order the aspen sticks I use from Treeline USA. They have other sticks tooSuch as hawthorn, basswood staffs, hickery ans sweetgum. If you call them talk to PJ. He is aways hepful. Also Kentucky Walking Sticks is a good source of sticks but you will have to ask what woods they have in stock.

Cris, I just pick up an oak 1" dowl from the hardware, and for a topper, I use poplar, run the grand horizontal it's very easy to carve and can be finished however, the shaft I add some power carving (name, some symbols) then I use my Lichtenberg burn unit to decorate the rest of the stick, I think the aspen stick will cost ±$20.. . .JoeB
