  • Farmers down in the County

In TBox's county, a farmer doesn't dress loud.
Key overalls with a bib. Why stand out in a crowd?

Well I thought old TBox would like to see my rendition.
Of a couple of farmers who would like to audition.

They would like to fit in in TBox's county.
To work on a farm and share in its bounty.

Looks to me like, Jr. Farmer and his old man " pops"
got their heads together, discussing this year's crops.
with new legislation about to pass
maybe this year instead of potatoes, they just plant " grass"...
If you're looking for me, you'll find me in a pile of wood chips somewhere...

Rodster...those are great!!! You just made my day!

          Great renditions!

As a side note, I grew up in Russell, Kansas, the same home town as Bob Dole. My dad was a friend of Bob's and Bob's dad. Bob's dad ran a grain elevator in town, and gave credence to the fact that overalls can be worn as business attire! Key overalls also come in a 'gray stripe' color as well...I never saw Bob's dad in anything other than those gray overalls with a starched, white, long-sleeved dress shirt buttoned to the top!

I'm glad you like the carvings and the ryhme. I find it interesting when carvers share a bit about their background and the area where they live. Your earlier disclosure of 'bib overalls', 'feed store' and 'Russell, Kansas' sketched a vivid and pleasing picture of prairie life, and your chatty nature was the icing on the cake. So I thought you might enjoy my carving (from far off Ontario) of two farmers passing the time.

Roadster, a great pair of carvings, well done.

I never knew anyone who spoke in rhymes before, I must ask, do you think naturally in rhymes or to you have to put some thought to it, to make your cadence come out so smooth?

Good question. I like to express myself in writing, but I haven't done much in the way of ryhmes until recently (other than the odd quip for my grandsons). I think I started with the ryhmes hoping to amuse some of you. My intuition told me that spontaneity and humor often has a promising result.

The ryhmes aren't effortless. Some come easier than others. A ryhming dictionary helps. But as I've done more of them, it gets easier.

                    Thanks for asking.

Nice carvings Rodster. Those boys would fit right in west of Winnepeg.
