  • Buddy's Townie Cousin

    IMG_0075.JPG

In an attempt to imitate Soggy's recent carving he called 'Buddy', I have tried (using my own style) to capture the Norman Rockwell look that Soggy does so effortlessly. My guy is Buddy's cousin, brought up in a larger town, so he doesn't know much about guns or duck hunting. In short, he is a bit of a wimp. But Randolph is a good young man, and he's headin' off to Scotia's south shore to learn about rural life and the sea. His Dad has been pushing him to learn a few practical things in life from Buddy . . . and to start calling himself 'Randy'. I suspect he'll get a eyeful when he gets there.

I hope he gets a chance to meet Soggy.

I've also included another guy from Southwestern Ontario. His name is Fred, a friend of Randy's from the time they both attended high school in Stratford. He isn't a Mennonite, but he likes their style, and fashioned a beard much like the Mennonite farmers of Perth County. I think he looks pretty dapper.

And a note for Claude and Tom Ellis, I THINK I've solved the button problem. I've chosen the politician's rule. If a problem is embarassing, pretend it doesn't exist.

TCH is the Trans Canada Highway for our American Friends. Don't forget the 'DILBERT' exit.

... Great job on Randy!.... but just a word of caution; you'd better put a baseball hat on him and dress him up in a bit of camo or he'll stick out like a sore thumb down here. The local boys will think he works for the government and is down here setting up some audits for CRA , or worse yet, maybe he works for the Fish and Game Dept. and is trying to make sure the boys stay within their bag limits while hunting and fishing........
If Randy spends a bit of time down here , we'll make a red neck out of him ...lol

          Hi Rodster
It is the DEBERT exit, there was a military base here during the Second World War and an under ground bunker from the cold war, from the Diefenbaker era, I worked in the bunker from 1983- 1996

Not quite Rod, nice try. There is still a little bit of shirt showing under that tie. Just enought room for a button.
If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

I like your sense of humor. That's a clever quip. You made me laugh!

I don't know where you got that emoji (if it is an emoji), but it's a winner. I love it.

I think I got it. Randy needs ammo, camo and tackle.

My neighbour (an ex-pat east coaster from down your way) tells me the south coast where you live has the best weather in the province (winter and summer)?? Very mild. Then he explained how the south coast of Scotia is really the east coast.

So let me get this straight. 'Ammo, camo, tackle'. Great weather year round. South coast is the east coast. Revenuers and Fish and Game people unpopular. Visit Scotia Carver on the way down. Carving clubs and friendly people in abundance. Leave my buttons and button holes in Ontario!

FORGET RANDY! I'm coming to live in NOVA SCOTIA.
