  • Festus and Virgil

Festus and Virgil have just been for eye surgery. Yes, in previous times, I would have used a gouge to create their eyeball sockets and then painted in their eyes (white and then brown paint). But this time, I just painted on their eyes. I think it worked out quite well. Festus claims he has 20/20 vision. Virgil complains about astigmatism, but he still can pass his driving test.

Excellent work! Very nice examples of flat plane. As for the eyes, simplicity is often the best route to take!

Great job on the carving as well as the painting ! I enjoy seeing your little characters, but was looking forward to an accompanying poem...

Festus and Virgil are two fine little guys.
Who come from the hill country, up near the sky.

They work in the woods, at a saw mill they own.
Each has a wife, named Angelina and Joan.

They work each day, sawing lumber for others.
They'd prefer something different, if they had their druthers.

But life is okay, up there in the hills.
Except in the cold weather, if you get the chills.

It isn't too often; it's healthy up there.
If you wear your long johns; and take proper care.
