  • What is Flat Plane Carving?

    Farmer and Townie.jpg

I think this is flat plane, but I can't be certain.
One slip with the knife, and I know it'll be curtains.

You shouldn't try flat plane if you're a bleeder.
Take care with your blade; avoid wood that is cedar.

While you're in the hospital with multiple cuts.
Remember, flat plane is clearly for those who are nuts.

Flat-plane figure carving is a style of woodcarving with Scandinavian roots. Flat-plane carving is a minimalist style, with strong, simple cuts that leave the tool marks exposed. It’s all about bold, flat facets designed to catch the light and cast shadows. I do not carve flat plain so you figures are it? I do not know. Other than you did a good job. I keep a first aid kit next to me for wrong cuts. I stop going to ER for cuts, and fix the cut myself especially when they ask me if I was suicidal...that PO me off big time. Cut myself few times the first few years...after a while you learn and it stops.

I am so happy the poems are back, Rodster, and those two look like well carved flat plane figures to me

I am not a pro, but it seems flat plane to me. They turned out very good, like your poem also.
