Whew, I do believe you can carve there ma'am.
Darned fine bit of work there Mottles. I really like the burnt in details in the headdress. Guess I'm going to have to study Mr. Gargac for a bit and see if I can pick up some pointers. Thanks for posting.

Nikki Hi thank you the elves are fun to carve and use your imagination to detail them. I did the series in 2009-2010. I hung up my carving tools in 2012 to learn how to loom weave and spin wool. Now I have found a new revived interest in carving again, yay.

Tinwood Thank you too, You can't go wrong in studying Mark's carvings he is a very skillful carver and a good teacher. I took a Mountain Man/Wizard class from him in Creede, CO. and so happy I was able too. The woodburning was something that I like to add to my carvings and my signature earrings I make myself.

I'm getting ready to burn some designs into my latest WIP (untitled WIP) now titled Hopi Woman in the WIP Forum and will upload them in a day or two.

Mark had a super tutorial on carving elves on WCI, with images...the actual text maybe still here but images would be gone. He does have a video on carving elves that I learned from.Last edited by Mottles; 12-22-2016, 04:42 PM.

Kathy, That is an awesome elf. First I have seen with an Indian flair. Will he be painted??...............TomIf I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

JoeVM, Thank you, Happy New Year.
pallin Thank you, I thought when I saw the prominent growth rings it might be a distraction. Yes I carved the elf with the nose centered on the corner. The ears were carved as part of the head block. They are based on Mark Gargac's elves...I have his DVD on carving elves.
