It's a very carefully done piece of work. I watch chainsaw carver friends squeeze the trigger and ram that saw into the block.
I cannot comprehend their thought processes. They're like target shooters who never miss.

The story with the bag pipes is that they will stop screaming if you don't squeeze them so hard.

              Great line Brian!

This could start a frenzy of bagpipe jokes - Definition of a Scottish Gentleman - a Scott who can play the pipes but doesn't.

Is that one piece of wood? Or several pieces put together?

For some reason it won't let me quote you but I think this was done with one piece of wood but I can't be certain. I could possibly ask next time I drive by

Thank you. It must have been some size of wood if one piece.

More than likely a single piece of log. I see another tree trunk reflected in one of the windows.
Let's suppose there was a tree near the house to come out. Leave the bottom 10' standing on the roots.
Nothing sticks out very far. Which makes me think tree trunk.
Nevertheless, it's a very good piece of carving.

I have 3 spruce trees in my front yard, no more than 50' high and 16" dbh.
If they had to come out, I have a chainsaw carver friend that I would hire to
work on the bottom 6-8' of each trunk.

Looks amazing, who is that guy!? Ha-ha. And I thought peoples imagination has stopped by leaving a few small gnomes in their backyard. Quite tall example. I had finished cleaning my backyard from autumn leaves and the picture now is much more pleasant to the eyes.
