Bob, I placed an order by email last Thursday. No confirmation yet. Did you ever get a callback?

North.jpg I have been purchasing my basswood from Heinecke since 1995. The wood comes planed and ready to carve and I have never been dissatisfied. About 12 years ago I wanted 16 pieces of 1x10x48 inches to use on beams in the home I was building. These all would be used for pyrography and needed to be clear. I called Dale (since retired and replaced by his son), explained my needs and purchased the wood.

Yesterday, I purchased, with the help of Dale's son, the ideal blocks I need to laminate for a carving (see underappreciated post). You cannot go wrong with Heinecke.

I've bought from both Heinecke and John Krantz. http://www.truenorthwoods.com/detail...7b6b1dde46cb4d Both have the good stuff.

I recently ordered some 1-1/4" x 12" x 15" basswood from Heinecke Wood Products. We agreed to delay the delivery until I returned home in mid-April. It arrived on schedule in good shape. This has been my experience for multiple orders. They have also made some custom glue-ups for me. The main point however is the wood is excellent basswood - perfect for carving!

You could probably try Heinecke Wood, but might need to special order it. Just send them an email and tell them what you are looking for.

    Basswood Suppliers?

Hi everyone. It seems that Basswoodman.com's website has gone away. I don't know if they are still in business or not.

I was getting a pretty decent supply from this company through Rockler, but the last few shipments have been late or missing, and full of small stuff rather than anything I can do a relief carving portrait on. I used to be able to pick through the grab boxes, but then had to start ordering directly. Now, they're gone.

Where does everyone get their good basswood?

I'm particularly looking for something in the range of 8x10 or 10x12, 1"-2" thick. All help will be greatly appreciated.
