I've just been contacted by an old friend of mine, Carol Notto, who is the widow of the late, well known knife maker, Rich Notto. When Rich died, his son David, took over the knife making. David NEVER SELLS TO DEALERS. Recently, David and Carol found that a vendor that goes by the name of Mountain Wood Carver or something like that, is advertising Notto knives. Nobody has been given permission to use the Notto name and these are NOT Notto knives. Both David and this other vendor, have Facebook pages but if you want an actual Notto knife, contact David Notto.

I'll pass that on, Robson. Carol is doing well. We stay in touch and see each other at our annual club show. She's just indignant that someone is using the Notto name to sell knives. If the product is a quality item, they shouldn't have to use someone else's name and reputation, to sell it.

Wow I'm surprised! I always thought Mountain Wood Carvers was a good upstanding supplier. I've ordered from them lots of times. I guess I will have to be careful in the future. Thanks for the tip, Susie!Keep On Carvin'

Looks like he calls them (Notto style) knives. All with walnut handles.
on the knives tab he calls them (Notto style). On the chip carving knives, he calls them Notto.Last edited by Tom Ellis; 02-11-2018, 11:32 AM.If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

I know Skylar at Mountain Wood Carvers, and find it really hard to believe he would do something like this...he and his wife, Pam, are top notch folks. I would hate to go casting stones without his side of the story.
The part of his website says (Notto style) knives, not that they are Notto knives.
I will try and reach out to Skylar and get his take on this. I don't want to besmirch a vendor that has had an excellent reputation without knowing the whole story.Last edited by tbox61; 02-11-2018, 06:04 PM.
