  • Dusting Accident

IMG_0005.JPGIMG_0002.JPG One of my Favorite Pieces took a Header off stand when Wife was Dusting . Drilled Small Hole in top and bottom piece to fit a Wooden Tooth Pick in when Gluing . Being it was such a small area I had to hold it in place longer than I wanted but it paid off . The mend is good and solid so should last a good while, I hope . Just about Invisible . Merle

            Hi Merle
There is nothing like tooth pick dowels, use them often when a nose gets chipped off.
            Thanks for sharing

Den-1 Ed's 3-11-2016 (8).jpgI've got a carved horse that I bought in the Philippines 50-years ago. Over those years the kids have knocked it off the bookcase a number of times so that I have the ears and a couple of legs glued together with contact cement. The next time the glue drys out and fails I'll have to give the toothpicks a try.

Hi Eddy , Make the holes a little larger than the Toothpick , easier to line up the Break . Merle

Excellent fix, Merle! I can't even see the break. It helps when they break off clean. Good tip on drilling the holes a bit larger too.

Nice repair Merle. Still curious as to what exactly the carving is. Interesting.

Hi Tinwood, I don't know what it is , I got it from Pinterest , it's smaller than the original which was worth $ 2400.00 . I just liked the Design , conversation starter. Looks kinda like a Pelican . Merle
