  • Therapy!

Been overloaded with things to do! I seemed to have forgotten how to kick back, relax and act like a normal 80 year old. Lucky that one part of my brain remembered this therapy. Just a scrap of wood, a pocket knife, and a porch.

Nice carving, Tom...and a very small one at that. Eyes must be very good also.

Totally agree with your therapy. My back deck, wood and carving tools. Watch the birds, clouds, critters. Easy cleanup too.

Now if it would have been me, I'd have started out with a 12"x12" blank to get where you got Tom. Nice little piece.

Yup that's how it all started for me 15 years ago--I needed a diversion from the world and being a caregiver for my Dad. I was getting WCI magazine and doing what I could with a Dastra bench knife I bought from the Rag Shop that really needed a good stropping. I talked to Rick at Little Shavers at the time and he set me up with a beginners kit. I learned what sharp was and a carving away I went. Been a blast ever since.

Nice job on the dolphin Tom. And BTW--thank you for all the contributions you've made to woodcarving and whittling. I may not have done your patterns true to how you do them, but I've taken away bits and pieces from you and all the others in the woodcarving world. So, thanks again.

Love that piece! If I couldn't spend time whacking off wood to destress, my husband would be running an ad to sell me off! Carving keeps me sane.
