    Hey thanks for the replies they are much appreciated

    I think the wood is oak, I’m not sure to be honest it was a hardwood block that I got from work (engineering/construction) some years ago, I learnt a lot carving it with regards to carving with the grain and also keeping chisels sharp as it’s was tough to carve

    I finished it with some old boiled linseed oil

    I have some more projects planned and shall share once completed
