Never too early

Yeah I know that Valentines Day is the next "holiday", but I like to carve Santa's no matter what time of year it is. Here's a couple that I finished painting this morning. Basswood, 3-1/2" high and carved on the corner. Every year I carve a few with other than a red hat; there's always a few people who like something a little less traditional...........

For any of you who have shown an interest in the plaid painting technique Mike Pounders has posted a great tutorial in the "Wood Finishing and Painting " thread . Take a look and give it a try, you'll be surprised to find its not all that difficult after a little practice.
