Thanks everyone for the comments. The final product turned out ok. I carved and painted him, then sprayed with Krylon 1311. I meant to go back and give him a shot of Deft, but guess it slipped my mind. I put on my antiquing mix of 50\50 watco dark and watco natural. Well when I checked later, you guessed it, the watco had soaked right in...….. So spent an hour re-carving parts and repainting. Sprayed with Deft and called it good. Lesson learned.
