  • Best Wishes To All You Veterans Out There!

I always hesitate to say "Happy Veterans Day!" It seems too inappropriate and lacking when we really mean "Thank You Veterans Day!" Veterans Day is a day to thank all living Americans who have served or are serving in the defense of our country. "Happy" doesn't quite do it. "Thank you for your service," and "Welcome Home", in my opinion, more appropriately conveys the real meaning of the day.

Well said, Eddy. I second that.

I agree, Eddy. The "cartoon" is very concise and a nice one.

I've started saying thanks for your sacrifice because that is the way I see things. It is a sacrifice to serve. JMO

      Thanks.

Eddie, While I'm not a veteran, I want to thank you for a post that I also express my feelings, but was unable to come up with the correct statement

Our Remembrance Day is Monday, so I would like to thank all of my fellow veterans for their service. In hot war or cold, service to your country is the highest honour a citizen can perform.

At time like this one, it is rare for me to comment,as I have known so many that have given all. For all my brothers and sister of services lost, I cannot see a"holiday" made with sales programs. These companies should be shut for the days and let their personnel appreciate what the veterans have given them,a chance to live in a country that is mostly free and to be able to work as you please . Veterans Day and Memorial Day are 2 of The most important days in my life. And I always will remember Pearl Harbor Day

And Thanks to all of our allies, I Thank You very much.

I might mention, my family in arms goes back to the Revolution , the Civil war, missed the Spanish one, but WW1, WW2, Korea, Myself before Vietnam ( 2 Younger Bros), Nam,, both sons, 2 Grandsons now serving. So you may see why. My Flag flies 24 -7 and is lighted along with the POW banner.

And thanks guys and gals for letting me say and could ramble on. Esp ,, Eddy, a great thought.
Now get back to cutting that wood.

Kind of the same here, Chuck. I have several ancestors whole fought in the Revolutionary War and every war since, including a son and daughter. I've visited the battlefields and read many records/documents about what happened. Without drifting off the thread much, knowing is very humbling. Very. Guess I should stop here before I do a total book about them.

Yeah, back to carving some of Doug's scarecrows.

Thank you too all the vets.

My Dad drove a munitions truck onto the shores of Normandy in the 3rd wave on D-day. They told him not to stop for any reason. He didn't until he got to Germany. Then he came home. Thanks Dad. I hope you are enjoying your well deserve rest with Mom--who was a welder stateside during the war. Thanks to you too Mom. Here's a pic of happier days after the war.
