    Another crack at a couple Santas

    Since my wife had a tough time watching one of the last Santas leave, I told her I would try one for her for Christmas. I carved two and she has chosen the one this time she would like to keep and the other will go to my brother so he can give it to a friend for a Christmas gift. One was using BLO in the finishing process and the other used a polyurethane instead of BLO. I’m trying to experiment in the finishing process to see what will hold up better. Thanks for looking and as always any critiques are welcomed and enjoyed.

    Those are some very nice Santas Chuck, Just in time too.
    If I took the time to fix all my mistakes, I wouldn,t have time to make new ones.

          I like the one (better) that is on the left, talking about finish. Just a great job on both painting and carving.

                    No contest there!...... they're both perfect. I'd be surprised if your wife didn't decide to keep both of them and to heck with your brother .

                      Excellent work! I like the one on the left, because the eyes are more centered, otherwise they both look identical. Which one did she keep?

                          Thanks everyone for the positive comments on my latest Santas. When I look at the talented carvings of members who have commented, I am humbled that they see a positive results in my attempt to improve on my carving experience. I will keep practicing to keep learning.
