I’ve been carving for a few years now, and after a few seasons of mass producing the simple Santa to sell on Etsy, I’ve started trying to come up with new ways to add complexity. Here’s my most recent attempt at running an LED through the center of my Santa carving.

Great idea! Where did you buy the light(s) and power pack for them?

Drippybuckets, I wish I'd stumbled onto your post a little farther from Christmas. :-) What would you say is the minimum hole diameter to fit the battery and switch?

These would be perfect for those of you who carve the bark houses: A flickering red to represent a fireplace inside, soft warm white at each window, all powered by a pair of AA batteries with an on/off switch.

This has been in the back of my mind since I saw the OP. Finally ordered a couple nanos to experiment with (maybe should have ordered picos...).
Planning a 'wizard's staff' kind of accessory. Figured I can use a piece of 1/8" aluminum tube painted to look something like wood, topped with a wood piece and drilled out plastic bead of some sort for the LED. Thinking I can just run the wires up through a base, without having to drill the whittled character itself.
We'll see how it goes..
