                Hi Mark,
A big CONGRATULATIONS to ya! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like the competition was outstanding as usual. I certainly admire your work and hope I get to see it again in Dayton this year (Hint, Hint). Am looking forward to seeing Big Dog Larry Yudis in Converse, IN in three weeks. He usually has some tales to tell about the show. Again Congratulations !!

I over heard someone say that they had about 600 hundred entrys, yes I'd say that was pretty good.

From what I can see ,and I'm sure the pictures don't do these justice, some of these are VERY well done,,an artistic eye took them from what would have been good carvings to GREAT carvings, thanks for posting them,,I think these are inspiring.
And Rocket,,I agree with you ,,the conductor caught my eye as well, which surprised me.The carving is spot on,,and the carver didn't fall prey to novel props or silly situations to distract from the expressiveness of the carving itself in an effort to attract interest. The subject itself (as conductors sometimes are) leads to a characterization,,but here it was handled so well in the subtle gestures and movement he gave to the piece without having to make an overexaggerated mockery of it.Every element is thought out and well planned,,in it's proper place, and very well executed. This, to me anyway,is an indication of the knowing eye of an artist.
