Creede Mountain Man

Hi All, took Mark Gargac's two day Creede, Colorado Mountain Man carving class. What a wonderful experience and Mark is a terrific patient teacher. So, hopefully I'll make Mark proud with my finished results.
My mountain man is carved from one of Marks rough-outs he supplied for the class. There were three to choose from and this one was my favorite. I did purchase another one to work on at home 'Wizard'. He's really neat and will be a challenge.
Mark was a one of several teachers at the Creede Rendezvous in July. It was a fun gathering of carvers, woodburners, vendors and tourists. I would recommend Marks class to anyone who wants to learn to carve the Mountain Man or Indian.

My Creed Mountain Man is almost finished, I have two coats of Golden Oak Danish Oil and will let dry for a couple days and apply some coats of matte varnish.

Great job Kathy! I envy you getting to go to Crede and studing with Mark. I would love to study with him. Now carve one on your own like that except different.

Kathy, he looks great! You always had it in you (as my instructor often said). I like his lean look. Something I might try with a long log I plan to use.

**** Kathy! That's good. You can sure see Marks influence, and I am sure he is proud of your work. I cannot think of many other carvers that I would want my carving to be influenced by. But you did a great job...Thanks for sharing... Tom H

That is indeed excellent work and a trip to Colorado to boot! I agree with GaryMc in that, at some point, take what you learned and apply it to an originally designed project by you.

I like what you did with the hair. And I love the penetrating eyes and the eyebrows.....well I guess I just like it all. Hope someday I can do a class with Mark
