I HATE to throw stuff out. I'm not a hoarder but if I can use it, I won't lose it. Well, sometimes things get to the point where you just have to clean house a bit. Got to the point where I couldn't walk through the workshop anymore so time to ditch some stuff. I was rooting through my scrap carving wood bin trying to knock it down to size as part of the process and found a nice little sized chunk of wood but one end had some splits in it. Save or toss? Then the light went on. Some crazy glue to stop the cracking and then a little creative work to incorporate existing cracks. The piece is about 5 1/2" high, 2 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick. The roof is carved from a separate piece. I've got some accessories in mind to add a little pizzaz to the finished product. When I get it all finished and painted I'll post some additional photos.

Funny that I am seeing this right now! I just came up from my basement to have some lunch. I was down there trying to clean up some and finding piles of stuff that I just thought maybe I will need this someday.
Great little carving! I like it!

Jim. Bob, Joe, I would have felt pretty "crappy" about throwing out that perfectly good hunk of carving material.

Sorry Jim, couldn't resist. Got a few more things for this in the works, all out of the same scrap bin. At this point, I'm figuring if it's big enough to hold on to, I just might be able to mangle it into something recognizable. Get back downstairs and salvage something.

MusicianOfTheNight, Terry, thanks for the kind words. Wayne, when I was a little pup, my grandfather and I used to travel the alleyways of the city he lived in. He used to pick up what other folks tossed, brought it home, fixed it up and sold it at the nearby auction sale to make a few bucks. Depression mentality I guess but it must have rubbed off on me. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. Should have things tidied up on the remainder of this piece here in a few days.
