Dragon has been a work in progress the last year, between massive house repairs....yuk! I am finally done with the repairs. Dragon is about three feet long and will be five feet height? when completed. He will be made with assortment of exotic Hawaiian woods. Right now him and the base are monkeypod, wings will be made of Koa, attachments will be Koa, ebony, and etc. He is in what I call rough out stage and I am adding attachments....I have just started with attachments of the spikes in the spine area....his teeth. All thin and breakable areas will be made of super hard wood. Because he will also be fragile....the thin areas attachments and wings will be made with the strong Koa,....he will sit on a base which is about three height this base weighs right now about hundred some pounds and I am just shaping the road of the village, that he will sit on. I figure about a year until completion..... Please bear with me.....new computer and new site ....I am having trouble with picture transfer. Which will hopefully be on the next page.

Meanwhile the work is slow.....you can see the base which is marked for the final cut out which will be attached to the base. Right now he is just starting to get a massive amounts of attachment, wings, whiskers. a long tongue, the base spine will have big and little spikes, the head horns and spikes.a mouth full of teeth are just in beginner stages. Wings can not be put on until attachment to base.. Explore! Dream! Discover!” aloha Di

IMG_0387_1.JPGThis is a koa turn bowl that that has the bottom cut out and split in half ....this will be shaped in the dragon wings, which I have a pattern but do not know where that is at this moment. Koa is used because it can be very thin and yet very strong wood..... This one I am living on a prayer that this idea works....smile. Note I have never done this kind of work.....so we are living on a creative prayer.. Explore! Dream! Discover!” aloha Di

IMG_0386_1.JPGThis is the base which has been a pain in the rear end she was a 400 pound log.....that has been shaped into beginning rough out.....it sits on the ground and will sport a village.....still working on the details. Like turtle this is not drawn out...it is create as I go kind of work. This log is out side when I pulled the tarp off he had a bunch of frogs on it....to bad they left before I got the camera. The top of the base is about to my belly button. She weighs about 150?? right now and I plan to get rid of at least a good 70 pounds which means hollowing the bottom some.. Explore! Dream! IMG_0385_1.JPGOne thing bad about my work, it is so detail and so 3 D..... (it made as a central work to walk around) that it is impossible to show on photographs..... Like turtle it is not until people see it that they are amazed. This is the back side of him...as you can see I am starting to getting the muscle down to a science....LOL while muttering under my breath. Of coarse the finish product will not look nothing like this it show enough details to show where I will take it.. Explore! Dream! Discover!” aloha Di

IMG_0388_1.JPGOne thing bad about my studio is it open ....to outside and that means cats spraying the goods.....so dragon gets wrapped in towels and then a shower curtain. This green plastic roofing as cat pee guard which gets sprayed often....yuk. the roofing is wired shut and topped with pillows. One bad thing about cat pee it stinks like a skunk and one thing you do not want is a statue smelling like it. Hawaii is terrible about rats, they are major problem here. So I keep the cats and yes they are fixed and spray anyway..... and I cover wood.. Explore! Dream! Discover!” aloha Di

Al.....I decided before I die I would be doing master works. On that note: I know the ones that create awesome works, takes major time, patience, doing and redoing until you get it right. So if it fails you need to do again, a different way.
Nomad ......thanks for the support .... I can use all I can get, I remember your words when it gets tough and rough....the words help me to keep on going on.
Tinwood.....Chaos of creation is a hard road to travel,....thank you again for your support.
Sappy..... that amount of work is often called the brink of insanity, ...thank you for your kind words.
