Gold paint or gold leaf? (I'm assuming paint as the leaf would be a pain to do.)

started a topic Another bathroom switch cover

    Another bathroom switch cover

Slowly replacing all the outlet and light switch covers in the house, this one is in the same bathroom as that bathtub one I did.
It's supposed to be a smaller version of our existing towel rack, wanted it to look like a washcloth:
    000SwC11.jpg000SwC10.jpg
Made from curly maple, green automotive basecoat reduced 200% (like the old candy colors) sprayed 3 light coats on then some satin clearcoat with auto hardener in it, then liquid gold leaf on the bar and "brackets".

Routed out the back, routed the top for the "brackets" and retraced my pattern, cut out on the scroll saw.

Started carving, had to use some "caterpillars" to get the switches out for the depth of my switch plate.

What do you think of it?

    Thanks ~Mike
