Thanks for the nice comments! I enjoyed to carve this because you know that the "value" of the simple "ordinary" object increases. And in the same time I practice what I learn in the woodcarving/woodsculpture lessons I take for 3 years now (3 hours a week). One of the goals of carving in Europe was to decorate furniture and objects. Real nice and nowadays almost forgotten technics and craftmanship. I really enjoy learning these technics.

Well now didn't that turn out dandy? Certainly does knock things up a notch or two for sure. Nice.

The wood's grain really added to your fine carving. Are you going to be adding something on the sides to keep for tools from rattling around or are you going to use tool rolls?

tool tote upgrade
hi
I bought a tool tote in IKEA (picture 2) (cheap, couldn't make it for the same price and I'm not a real woodworker, never made some joinery) in acacia. It looked very normal so I decided to update it. I came across the site of Peter Follansbee and his 17th century joined chest and found the ideal patterns. Beside his lines and tree flowers I looked in a book of patterns to find other 17th century scandinavian designs and put them beside the other floral patterns. I changed the handle on my pole lathe and finished it with varnish which accentuated the colour of acacia. image_5330.jpgDSC_0839 (800x536)klein.jpgDSC_0654_01 (536x800).jpgDSC_0655_01 (640x428).jpgimage_5334.jpgBewarenBewarenBewarenBewarenLast edited by jderijcke; 11-08-2016, 02:14 PM.Tags: None
